Virtual Heist of the Century: Hackers Stole $31 Million worth of PlayDapp Digital Treasures

The hacker attack caused significant financial losses for the PlayDapp gaming blockchain platform, as the attackers managed to illegally create a huge number of tokens and withdraw them from their accounts. According to a report by analysts from PeckShield, hackers were able to enter 200 million PLA tokens into the balance, the value of which is estimated at $ 31 million.

The penetration of the platform allowed the scammers to assign their address as a source of minting (minting) tokens. As a result, the attackers transferred the stolen funds to different cryptocurrency wallets. This information was confirmed by Cyvers Alerts specialists, adding that some of the stolen assets, estimated at almost $ 6 million, were sent to one of the cryptocurrency exchanges – Gate.io .

Representatives of PlayDapp also confirmed the fact of hacking, while organizing a thorough investigation of the incident. The investigation of the hacking case has already started, the TokoCrypto and Binance trading platforms, which included PLA tokens in the listing, have been informed of the need to temporarily stop all operations with these assets.

After the theft was reported, according to widespread information from CoinGecko, a 2.2 percent drop in the price of the PLA token was recorded within one day. At the time of preparation of the information, the corresponding cost of one token is estimated at approximately $ 0.15.

This event is not the only case of a threat in the field of cybersecurity, because according to experts from Hudson Rock, an offer to sell access to the Kodex Global portal for 5 thousand dollars was discovered on the black market, the portal is engaged in the exchange of sensitive data between the security services of various cryptocurrency platforms.

Such incidents clearly demonstrate the growing need to strengthen security measures for cryptocurrency platforms in order to prevent similar attacks in the future and preserve user trust.
