BTC.com robbed of $3 million during a cyberattack.
The seventh largest cryptocurrency mining pool has officially announced an incident in which attackers stole about $3 million worth of crypto assets, including 700,000 belonging to its customers and 2.3 million worth of digital assets belonging to the company.
The attack was detected on December 3, 2022, after which the administration contacted the Chinese security forces in Shenzhen about this. On December 23, the authorities announced the start of an official investigation.
Thanks to the prompt actions of the company, it was possible to return part of the stolen cryptocurrency, but the specific amount is not called.
BTC.com we have also taken all necessary measures to block similar attacks in the future.
The platform currently continues to operate normally, with the exception of digital asset management services.
Currently, the company does not disclose information about how the attackers were able to steal the cryptocurrency.
