The release of Zorin OS 17, a distribution for users used to Windows or macOS
The Zorin OS team has announced the release of Zorin OS 17, a new stable version of the GNU/Linux distribution based on Ubuntu 22.04.3, offering long-term support and beautiful desktop customization.
Updated Work environment: Zorin OS 17 includes an updated GNOME 43-based work environment with a quick settings menu, a new screenshot and screen recording experience, full GTK4 support, new power modes, improved window management and an improved activity overview feature.
Spatial Desktop: A new multitasking feature called "Spatial Desktop" includes two desktop effects: "Desktop Cube" and "Spatial Window Switch". These effects are optional and can be enabled in the "Zorin Appearance" tool in the "Effects" section.
Updated Zorin app menu: It now includes a universal search and a new "All Apps" category to view all apps in alphabetical order.
Remote desktop support with RDP: The new version of Zorin OS 17 introduces a significant improvement in remote desktop access functionality. Now, when users enable remote desktop sharing via the Settings > Sharing panel, the RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) protocol is used by default. However, the VNC protocol is also available.
New layouts in Zorin Appearance: Two new layouts have been added for users of the Pro version, simulating the old GNOME 2 desktop or the Google Chrome OS desktop.
Improved Performance: The performance of all editions has been improved, reducing the minimum system memory requirement from 2 GB of RAM to 1.5 GB of RAM.
Zorin OS 17 represents a significant step forward in the development of the distribution, offering users improved features and higher performance
