Hackers stole the source codes of League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics🤷🏼♀️
The developer and publisher of video games Riot Games reported that during a recent cyberattack, hackers stole the source codes of League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics and tools for developing an old version of anti-cheat.
The attackers demanded a ransom for non—disclosure of information - $ 10 million.💰
☝🏻The corporation refused to pay hackers.
Riot Games assures that no account data or personal information of players has been compromised. The corporation has started work on assessing the possible impact of the incident on the current version of the anti-cheat.
A number of experimental functions and developments on closed test game modes also got into the source code illegally obtained by hackers.
Riot Games has promised to publish a detailed report on this incident in the future with a detailed description of the methods of the attackers, the affected IT systems and security mechanisms in the company that did not work properly to prevent the attack.
At the moment, it is only reported that "The attackers used social engineering methods to gain access to the internal perimeter of the organization."😐
