Peer-to-peer networks
Usually the client and server software are run on different computers, but one computer can also do this. In small corporate and home networks, many computers work both as servers and as clients. Such networks are called peer-to-peer.
✅ Advantages of a peer-to-peer network:
• Easy to install
• Less confusing
• Cost reduction (as network devices and dedicated servers may not be required)
• Can be used for simple tasks such as file transfer and printer sharing.
⛔️ Disadvantages of a peer-to-peer network:
• No centralized management
• Not completely safe
• Does not scale
• All devices can act as both a client and a server, which can slow down their work.
