CEO of Marathon predicted Bitcoin at $125,000 in 2025

By the end of 2025, the first cryptocurrency may reach a new high of $125,000, and its price fluctuations will become "more stable." This was stated by Marathon Digital CEO Fred Thiel in Anthony Pompliano's podcast.

In his opinion, the increase in the supply of digital assets on the market will be slower than that of gold. This will have a significant impact on the price of the cryptocurrency.

Traditionally, halving has created the basis for bitcoin's growth, compensating for the loss of miners' income, Thiel believes. The upcoming halving of the award will not be an exception.

The head of Marathon noted that the emergence of spot bitcoin ETFs in the United States is likely to lead to increased liquidity and lower volatility of the asset. New tools will also make the first cryptocurrency more attractive to institutions.

Thiel added that the diverse investment options in bitcoin, including direct ownership, futures and diversified baskets of funds, highlight its growing integration with major financial systems.

The CEO spoke about a new priority for miners — now those who mine the first cryptocurrency are focused on "collecting energy".

He suggested that in the future this process will resemble microgrids that connect to "widely dispersed, useless energy sources." This will ensure more stable operation, and the cost of mining itself can potentially become almost zero.

According to Thiel, the asset's exchange rate and global hashrate are key factors in the bitcoin mining industry. These elements affect the ability of miners to raise capital and the price of equipment.

Despite all the positive aspects, global geopolitics, the strength of the US dollar, the inflation rate and external factors such as energy prices and trade dynamics still affect the first cryptocurrency, Thiel said. These factors, combined with bitcoin's inherent volatility and unstable hashrate, negatively affect the acceptance of the asset.

By the end of the third or beginning of the fourth quarter of 2024, Thiel expects bitcoin to reach a new historical high, but then there will be a recession that will lower its rate to around $40,000-50,000.

The negative trend will stabilize by the beginning of 2025, says CEO Marathon, followed by a gradual rise to a new ATH — $ 120,000.

Recall that the founder of SkyBridge Capital, Anthony Scaramucci, predicted bitcoin at $170,000 by 2025.

A slightly more modest figure of $150,000 was named by Tom Lee, co-founder of the Fundstrat analytical firm. In his opinion, the asset will reach $500,000 in the next five years.
