Tor66 - Search engines for the darknet - (Onion Links 2024)
TOR66 offers the function of searching for onion links through the search bar on its home page. It indexes and saves active links while filtering others at the same time. In addition to links sent by users, darknet site owners can promote themselves on TOR66 with text ads and graphic banners. TOR66 also classifies onions into “Fresh Onions“ and "TOP#Onions".
Why use TOR66?
TOR66 offers a search directory for user submissions and views .onion links. It maintains an index that can be accessed from its home page. When the link is sent, TOR66 compiles the final results by indexing the content on the onion site. Keywords related to the site can then be entered into the search bar. This returns a list of all the sites that relate to the keyword. The final results include a preview of the website and a “Gallery Mode” for viewing multiple search results. Users can advertise their own hidden services on TOR66 in the form of graphic banners and combined text advertising packages. Prices are clearly indicated in bitcoins with discounts for several months. They also offer an online advertising editor. Graphic banners are displayed in search results and on the main page, while text ads are displayed only in search results. The home page loads very quickly, has a clean design and is formatted without using JS.
Disadvantages and limitations of TOR66
Many of the links listed in the “Promoted sites” lead to fraud, illegal markets or schemes with fake currency. Due to the unmoderated and unlimited nature of how ads are bought with bitcoins, anyone can advertise a convincing clone or phishing link that could potentially steal personal information and money from unsuspecting users. Personal information such as names or addresses should not be transmitted in unencrypted form, and the get rich quick and Bitcoin doubling sites should be approached with caution.
Duplicate mirrors of the hidden service are listed sequentially, cluttering the search results page. The website previews in the search results are of poor quality and difficult to see. The unverified links belong to the site administrators. The links are viewable, so they can redirect to a malicious site.
