What is multiplexing?
Due to the fact that computer networks are used to transmit data over long distances, they tend to minimize the number of wires in the cable, in order to save money. Therefore, technologies have been developed that allow several data streams to be transmitted over the same communication channel at once
• Multiplexing is the consolidation of a communication channel, that is, the transmission of several data streams at a lower speed over one communication channel. Or else: creating several communication subchannels with lower bandwidth in the original communication channel
• A multiplexer (MUX) is a combination device that provides the transmission in the desired order of digital information coming from several inputs to one output. It can be implemented both hardware and software.
