What is RTSP?
Robot couriers, drones, self-driving cars and other achievements of modern science and technology no longer seem like something from the world of fiction. They have become a familiar phenomenon for us. Built-in IP cameras allow them to “see” what is happening, and we can see the world through their “eyes". And what if we tell you that the vision of IP cameras is based on technology that has been around for more than 20 years?
• RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) is an application layer protocol created for telecommunications and entertainment systems and designed to manage the delivery of multimedia data. RTSP is a signaling protocol, it manages the data transmission session.
• RTSP was originally supposed to be used to deliver entertainment television. And it really was so for the time being. Then fate decreed otherwise: RTSP was erased from the face of television and now it can be found exclusively in IP cameras. We can observe the principles laid down in RTSP in the modern WebRTC standard.
