A proxy server for blocking ads and tracking code between sites.
Privoxy's method of operation boils down to deploying an intermediate filter between the user and the sites, using the substitution of TLS certificates to intercept the contents of encrypted HTTPS sessions and hide a warning about jamming into the communication channel (MITM).
Privoxy generates its own root certificate, which the user installs in the certificate store of his system and prescribes the operation of applications through the proxy localhost:8100.🤔
The implementation of the blocker in the form of a separate proxy server makes it possible to use it as a universal solution that allows filtering requests not only from web browsers.
☝🏻The proxy also does not depend on browser restrictions, for example, imposed by the third version of the Chrome manifest, and provides higher performance and lower resource requirements.
